The German Navy recently handed over its new Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft 63+01 to Lufthansa Technik Defense in Hamburg for scheduled maintenance for the first time.
This milestone was celebrated today in a ceremony in Hamburg. These initial 180 days check on the state-of-the-art anti-submarine aircraft marks a turning point for Lufthansa Technik as for the first time, the company is performing work on a military aircraft with offensive capability.
In November, Lufthansa Technik Defense concluded a comprehensive contract with aircraft manufacturer Boeing, encompassing numerous maintenance services for the German Navy's Poseidon fleet.
Germany originally ordered five P-8As in June 2021 and ordered three more in 2023, bringing the total to eight. Three of these are currently in service with the Navy.
