Le premier Boeing 777-9 de série, immatriculé N20080 pour les essais, a effectué son vol inaugural depuis l'aéroport d'Everett Paine. L'appareil, encore sans peinture, a réalisé un vol de trois heures, atteignant une altitude de 11 890 mètres (39 000 pieds).
